GENERAL INFORMATION

Musical Theatre West generally holds auditions six to eight weeks prior to a show's

opening date. Auditions are open to performers of any status, and Musical Theatre West

encourages performers of all ethnicities to audition for its productions.

Musical Theatre West operates under a LOA/WCLO contract with

Actors' Equity Association and utilizes both union and non-union talent in its

productions, and roles are open to performers of any status.

Because of the need to see auditionees against other potential cast members,

Musical Theatre West does not accept audio or video submissions.

Auditions and rehearsals are held at the

Musical Theatre West - Reiner Rehearsal Hall,

Monday, September 13, 2010:

11:00 AM-6:00 PM:  Adult Equity Principal Auditions  (lunch from 2:00 - 3:00)

Monitor will arrive at 10:00 AM

6:30 PM: AEA/Non-AEA Adult Male Movement Call

8:00 PM:  AEA/Non-AEA Adult Female Movement Call

 

All roles available to performers of any union status. Equity contracts will be considered for the roles of all adult principals plus a minimum of three ensemble roles.  All interested in Adult Ensemble MUST attend the appropriate movement call on Monday September 13th. 

Auditions for orphans will be scheduled via submissions only.

There will be NO OPEN CALL FOR CHILDREN'S ROLES.

 

Preparation: 

Best song in traditional musical theatre style. The score will be provided.

Non-union auditionees, please limit song to ONE MINUTE.

Character Breakdown

ANNIE: An eleven-year-old orphan, optimistic and "spunky", seeking her parents.

 

MISS HANNIGAN: The unpleasant orphanage matron, disillusioned, she hates children, but is fond of alcoholic beverages. 40s to mid-50s.

 

OLIVER "DADDY" WARBUCKS: Billionaire businessman who opens his home – and heart – to Annie. Mid-40s to 50s.

 

GRACE FARRELL: Warbucks' faithful secretary, who loves Annie from the start. 25-35.

 

ROOSTER HANNIGAN: Miss Hannigan's no-good brother, out for the quick buck. 30-50.

 

LILY ST. REGIS: Rooster's  floozy girlfriend, is smarter than she appears. 30-40.

MOLLY: The Littlest orphan. To play 7 YEARS OLD.

 

KATE: The next to littlest orphan. To play 8 YEARS OLD.

 

TESSIE: The cry baby orphan.  To play 10 YEARS OLD.

 

PEPPER: The toughest orphan. To play 12 YEARS OLD.

 

JULY: The quietest orphan. To play 13 YEARS OLD.

 

DUFFY: The biggest orphan. To play 13 YEARS OLD.

 

FRANKLIN DELANO ROOSEVELT: President of the United States, he aids Warbucks in the search for Annie's parents. 50s to 60s.

 

ENSEMBLE:  Seeking versatile character actors and actresses to play multiple roles which include: Drake the Butler, Warbucks' staff, Bert Healy, The Boylan Sisters, Radio Show personalities, F.D.R's Cabinet, Hooverville Bums, etc...20s to 50s. All ethnicities.   MUST attend the appropriate movement call on Monday September 13th.
