American songwriters Kander and Ebb are front and center in this glittering revue of gems from shows like Cabaret, Funny Lady, Chicago, Zorba and Kiss of the Spider Woman. Life - with its glories, indignities, hopes and quiet dreams - is the subject of this dazzling outpouring of song and dance. Filled with humor, romance and brassy insightful lyrics, the show is a thrilling celebration of life and the fighting spirit that keeps us all going.

Group effort keeps this 'World' turning
WThe operative word in "The World
Goes 'Round" at the Carpenter Performing Arts Center in Long Beach is "collaborators,"
in this case John Kander and Fred Ebb. This smooth Musical Theatre West
revival of the revue celebrating the songwriters behind "Cabaret" and "Chicago"
is a prime example of integrated professionalism.

Les Spindle Backstage West
The world of musical theatre
does indeed go 'round, and for the legendary team of composer John Kander
and lyricist Fred Ebb it's been spinning felicitously for four decades.
They're now riding the crest of a hot streak with Chicago's Oscar glory,
the resulting resurgence of that long-running musical's popularity on Broadway,
and preliminary talks of a movie based on their stunning Harold Prince stage
tuner Kiss of the Spider Woman. What better time to revisit this 1991 Off-Broadway
revue, celebrating the duo's golden oldies from stage, screen, and TV?

and Fred Ebb's "Chicago" would sweep the Oscars this year.

Daggett Dances In "World Goes 'Round"
In between serving as president of the city's Public Corporation for the
Arts board of directors, singing in both a 1940s trio and her church choir,
and performing a one-woman play she wrote, Lucy Daggett still managed to
squeeze in time for Musical Theatre West's latest production of "World
Goes 'Round."
