Musical Theatre West closes its 50th Anniversary Season with the 1992 Tony Award winner for Best Musical, George and Ira Gershwins delightful CRAZY FOR YOU, a classic song-and-dance show with exhilarating tap dancing reminiscent of 42nd STREET and SINGIN IN THE RAIN. CRAZY FOR YOU is a stylish, sassy, hilarious romantic comedy featuring a fantastic score including "Someone to Watch Over Me", "I Got Rhythm", "They Cant Take That Away From Me" and "Embraceable You". Who could ask for anything more? Starring David Engel, Tami Tappan Damiano and Ira Denmark, CRAZY FOR YOU will be directed and choreographed by Jamie Rocco with musical direction by Todd Helm.
David Engel and Tami Tappan Damiano are returning to Musical Theatre West following their dynamic performance in SINGIN IN THE RAIN. Mr. Engel is an Ovation Award winner for his performance in CRAZY FOR YOU at CLO of the South Bay Cities. Other credits include the original Broadway companies of LA CAGE AUX FOLLES, FOREVER PLAID, SEUSSICAL: THE MUSICAL and PUTTING IT TOGETHER. Tami Tappan Damiano comes directly from the critically praised production of A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE as Stella at the Rubicon Theatre in Ventura. and LA cast of MISS SAIGON as Ellen, TRIUMPH OF LOVE (Santa Barbara CLO) and LADY BE GOOD at the La Fenice Opera in Venice, Italy. Ira Denmark is reprising his role as Bela Zangler that he has performed for Houstons Theatre Under the Stars, CLO of the South Bay Cities and McCoy/Rigby Productions in La Mirada. Other performances includeGUYS AND DOLLS, MAN OF LA MANCHA and ANYTHING GOES. Director Jamie Rocco is the creator of the current Off-Broadway hit STREAKIN! Jamies work has been seen around the country in productions of THE WIZARD OF OZ (Madison Square Garden starring Roseanne, Eartha Kitt and Mickey Rooney), SWEENEY TODD, A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC and a new version of SINGIN IN THE RAIN that he re-conceived. Todd Helms returns to MTW for his 20th production having been hired directly out of UCLA for his first musical director/conductor job. Credits include SINGIN IN THE RAIN, JOSEPH , PHANTOM and THE MUSIC MAN. Technical duties will be handles by Robert L. Smith (Lighting Designer), Thomas G. Maquez (Costume Co-ordinator) and Julie Ferrin (Sound Designer).
TICKET INFORMATION Tickets prices for CRAZY FOR YOU at the Carpenter Performing Arts Center range from $20.00 to $45.00. Children under 12 are $15.00 to any performance. Student and Senior rush tickets are available for $20.00 one hour prior to curtain. Public rush tickets are available ten minutes prior to curtain (subject to availability) for $10.00. Group Discounts for parties of 12 or more are available by calling the Group Sales Department.
