Help Us Keep The Lights On

Dear MTW Supporter:

We hope you and your family are staying safe in these unprecedented times. We’re all facing new hurdles unlike anything before. When we said in March we were taking a brief intermission, we had no idea it would extend so long.

WHERE WE ARE
At the end of February 2020, we were well ahead of our projected budget for the fiscal year at the six-month point. Then we hit mid-March, Mame and Treasure Island were postponed and our producing operations ceased.  75% of MTW’s income comes from ticket sales to our large scale Broadway-style productions, so that presents a major challenge to the health of our organization.  As mounting these our shows could still be months away, we are forecasting an almost $1 million loss when our fiscal year ends on August 31, 2020.

WHAT WE’VE DONE
With the expiration of our PPP loan on June 30th, we’ve reduced our already too small staff, implemented pay cuts and severely reduced hours. With drastic cuts, we’ve cut monthly expenses by half, but there is still overhead like phone, utilities, internet, and insurance. We have applied for government loans to help us along, but we still need $60,000 per month to be here for you, our loyal patrons.

WHERE YOU COME IN (KEEP THE LIGHTS ON – A MATCHING DONATION CAMPAIGN)
Please consider a monthly gift to MTW over the next six months, July through December, to help us continue our mission. Our MTW Trustees have pledged to match $15,000 in donations per month over the next six months. If just 150 people gave $100 a month, those contributions would be doubled.  Of course, we’re grateful for whatever is possible for you at this time.

HERE’S HOW IT WORKS

  • Click on the Donate Now button above.
  • Your credit card will be charged on the 15th of each month for the next six months.

WHY DO YOU NEED TO STAY OPEN, CAN’T YOU JUST SHUT DOWN FOR THE NEXT SIX MONTHS?

Our staff is busy laying the groundwork for our new future, brainstorming fundraisers and other events. There is definitely work to be done until we are able to produce our large-scale Broadway-style shows again. In addition to our weekly social media programming, we’re launching a new learning experience. Our two traveling school shows will be filmed and we’re developing a series of 45-minute virtual presentations, highlighting careers in the theater.  These will be offered to the LB Unified School District to help with the growing need for online curriculum. Once small gatherings are allowed we want to produce some intimate cabaret concerts, and we hope to stream them should you choose to watch from home.

CAN WE CAN COUNT ON YOU TO HELP KEEP THE LIGHTS ON?
