MTW Master Class Feb. 26

MTW is celebrating Black History in musical theatre! We are excited to welcome back Antoine Lee to lead a Master Class featuring choreography from the musical, Purlie. As Antoine says, “That means clapping, shouting, and heaps of gospel music.”

The story of a traveling preacher trying to save his hometown church, Purlie opened on Broadway in 1970, and was nominated for 5 Tony Awards, including Best Musical, Best Director, and Best Choreography. It won Best Featured Actor (Cleavon Little) and Featured Actress (Melba Moore.) Subsequent revivals have starred Blair Underwood and Anika Noni Rose; Robert Guillame starred in the film adaptation, and Jennifer Hudson sang the show’s breakout number, “I Got Love” on NBC’s hit show, “Smash.”

This class is for grades 6th-12 with skill levels from advanced-beginning to intermediate, and above.
